The Dewsbury-based Shire Bed Company is supporting a Leeds charity for the festive season.

The company has donated 12 waterproof foam mattresses to the Leeds based St George’s Crypt which works with the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from addiction.

The mattresses are from the company’s specialist contract range which comply with Ignition source 5 medium hazard (Ignition source 7 available on request) and meet stringent flammability tests.

A charity spokesperson says: “We are grateful to Shire Beds for the much needed mattresses.  Every donation goes towards providing the outstanding service we offer to the most vulnerable and needy of Leeds.

“At the Crypt we want to do the very best we can to help, not just at Christmas - but all year round. Please support the appeal if you can.”

Fara Butt, sales and marketing director, says: “We are delighted to be able to work with St George’s Crypt. We are acutely aware of the rising statistics of homelessness, especially in our local area and wider community. This is why we want to help at least a few people to enjoy the simple luxury of a good night’s sleep which so many take for granted.

“It is the least that we can do and in-keeping with the season have a deep sense of wanting to give something back for those who are less fortunate than others at Christmastime.”
